This morning we walked down the small distance from the aire to the salt marshes.

This area is a National Nature Reserve.

The flatness of the salt marshes is in stark contrast to the nearby hills.

We walked through some ancient woodland.

The trees here are mainly oak but there is also birch, ash, alder, hawthorn, hazel and sallow.

Back at the aire we serviced the van before leaving.

The middle van pictured here had come in and parked in our former space before we had even finished taking on water!

Today we travelled east taking on diesel at Annan and then crossing from Scotland to England at Gretna. We travelled through Brampton and Alston and stopped for the day at the Nent Hall Hotel.

Nent Hall Hotel is a host in the Britstops scheme in which participating venues allow motorhomers and campervaners who are Britstops members to stay for free for up to 24 hours without obligation to buy anything at the venue.

I'm sure almost all Britstops members do buy something when they stay at a host venue. We had a really nice meal in the hotel restaurant. Ann had meat pie and I had fish. We both had nice puds to follow all washed down with real ale.

It has been a hot day. We have a nice shady parking place here.

Today we travelled 69 miles (111 kilometres). We are at: N54.806 W2.378
