Sunday 4th July 2021

After leaving the motel this morning we tried to do a supermarket shop in Ullapool but there was a massive queue to get in so we gave it a miss. We travelled on south passing the peak of An Teallach seen here.

There was too much cloud to be able to see the big mountains well. The weather was generally wet. We stopped and bought groceries at a small supermarket in Gairloch.

We stopped for the day at the Beinn Eighe National Nature Reserve on the shore of Loch Maree.

We followed a waymarked trail through some remaining Caledonian Scots Pine Forest.

We had great views of Loch Maree.

The peak of Slioch is just the other side of the Loch.

I was really impressed by this trail and the accompanying booklet we picked up at the parking area.

Soon after we returned to the car park there was the most tremendously heavy rainstorm. After it eventually stopped we could see spray coming off the swollen burns on the far side of the loch.

We had hardly noticed this waterfall when we first arrived. After the storm it was raging!

It cleared up in the late evening and the sun lit up the mountains across the Loch.

Here's the view of the sunset from our van.

Today we travelled 77 miles (124 kilometres). We are at: N57.63080 W5.34898
