Today Monday 6th July Martin showed me the way to his favoured tyre place in Largs and the punctured tyre got repaired. We then said goodbye to our kind and generous hosts and headed south stopping at Ayr for diesel and the visiting Culzean Castle and Gardens (National Trust for Scotland).

The Castle is an impressive pile set on a cliff above the sea south of Ayr.

Inside there is a magnificent oval staircase.

Here's looking down.

The interior sports numerous pictures - I found this one of a lion caught in a net particularly unpleasant. I suppose the aristocracy must have liked such things.

The castle gardens are very fine indeed.

There is also a deer park.

From Culzean we moved on south down the coast to Girvan where we are staying the night. The weather is exceptionally nasty with high winds and driving rain. We bought fish and chips from a shop by the fishing port which were very good but far too large portion wise. Should have only bought one.

We are staying in a very nice unrestricted car park right on the sea front here in Girvan. This is the view looking out to sea from our van. You should be able to see the huge rock of Ailsa Craig out to sea but the mist has come right down to sea level.
