Last night there was a marvellous sunset looking west from Salen Pier on Mull. This photo really doesn't do it much justice. This morning Friday 3rd July we checked the van over and found that the right rear tyre had lost a lot of pressure. As we had not checked it since we left Widecombe over five weeks ago we had no idea how quickly it was losing pressure so we pumped it up and resolved to check it on a regular basis.

Potential problem number two of the day happened soon after when we went exploring down a minor road signposted to a place called Grasspoint. While crossing over a tiny humpbacked bridge the van bottomed quite heavily as we went over the crest. I was in a really agitated state about this as I feared we wouldn't be able to get back over the bridge and the road was a dead end so there was no alternative but to go back the way we had come. Ann has a much better temperament than me and she got me to stop so she could photograph Highland Cattle before we attempted to get back over the bridge.

We managed to get back over the bridge scraping the underside of our door step once again in the process. The doorstep temporarily stopped working but after a bit of gigling and lubrication it seems to be working again okay. Ann took this photo of passing yachts in the Sound of Mull while I was pissing about with the electric doorstep under the van.

We soon were waiting at Craignure Ferry Terminal for a trip over to the Mainland at Oban.

The ferry was a bit late but before long we were arriving in Oban.

After stocking up with groceries at Tesco we visited McCaig's Tower - an enormous folly built on a hilltop overlooking the town of Oban.

This plaque on the side of the folly more or less says it all!

We moved on a few miles and found this gorgeous parking place at the end of a minor road on the south shore of Loch Etive. There were cows.......

......and Swans......

........and cyclists.......and fishing persons.......

.......and sunset........

.......and mountain views up towards Glen Coe!

What a great place! We were happy to share it with a few other wild campers.
