On the morning of Monday 29th June there was a better view to Ben Hiant.

From our overnight parking place we saw this deer which seemed to be trapped on what from its point of view was the wrong side of a deer fence.

We moved on to the ferry terminal at Kilchoan. Here's the ferry arriving to pick us up.

We were soon loaded on board and on our way to Tobermory on the Island of Mull.

During the short ferry trip we were passed by the Big Ferry coming in from Barra in the Outer Hebrides on the four and a half hour crossing to Oban.

Tobermory is very picturesque with multi coloured houses all along the waterfront. It is also a horrendous tourist trap with nick-nack shops and eateries absolutely everywhere. We didn't have much luck on the eating front. One place we went into said that they didn't serve anything after three o clock. Another place we went into had the staff totally ignoring us so we gave up there. We tried to buy two small haddock and chips at a mobile chip shop on the harbour front but as they only had large portions in stock we gave it a miss.

We were quite glad to get out of Tobermory and we moved on to Calgary on the north coast of Mull. It was raining. The major Canadian city of the same name was named after this tiny remote village.

Argyll and Bute Council have designated this as an "official" wild camping area if that is not a contradiction in terms. This is an excellent initiative by the Council and should be copied by others. We parked for the night here.
