On the morning of Wednesday 1st July the wind had gone down and the sun had come out. We were woken by a lamb rubbing itself on the side of our van.

Lucy and Ewan's tent had survived the violent winds of the night before.

We moved on anti clockwise around Mull passing under these impressive cliffs by the sea.

We saw some Highland Cattle close to the road.

We stopped in the village of Bunessan to buy groceries and then travelled on west to Fionnphort where we could look over the narrow channel to Iona. Here's the Abbey. St Columba who first brought Christianity to Scotland here was well know for his "liberal views". He reputedly said "Where there are cattle there are women and where there are women there is mischief"!

Like Tobermory, Fionnphort and Iona are horrendous touroid ridden atrocities. Here are the coaches lined up waiting to pick up the punters off the ferry from Iona and take them back to the ferry across to the mainland at Oban. I was slightly luckier with eating out here. I had 3 scallops on a plate with a roll and a bit of salad for £6.

Having quit Fionnphort we visited the beach at Uisken on the south coast of Mull. We would have liked to stay the night here but parking was "by courtesy of the Duke of Argyll" and apparently his lordship didn't want the likes of us staying overnight.

We did however go for a paddle in the sea. It was a really hot day by now.

We paddled through a shoal of tiny Sand Eels.

We went back to Bunessan and parked for the night on the outskirts of the village. We went for a meal out in the village pub and met up again with our pals Lucy and Ewan the cyclists
