Sunday 1st November

Today we travelled west from Chantada going to the south of Santiago de Compostella and heading for the coast. Along the way we kept seeing these unfamiliar structures outside houses.

Eventually we saw one with an open door. It seems that they are used for storing produce - in this case maize.

We stopped for the day at the town of Boiro in the Rias Baixes on the west coast of Galicia. We travelled 81 miles (130 kilometres) today. It costs 3 euros for 24 hours to park here - the local police came round to collect the money and gave us a very impressive looking receipt to put behind the windscreen.

We're parked just over the road from the beach.

Nearby a river flows into the sea.

As the sun went down the light was really good for photos. Here's a view from our parking place.

There was a very nice sunset.
