To the Gulf of Taranto

On Wednesday 2nd May we moved north and wild camped at Punta Alice on the southern lip of the Gulf of Taranto - the "sole" of Italy.

There is a lighthouse at Punta Alice which still flashes at night. I thought ships used GPS these days!

There were lots of amazing flowers, many of which were completely new to us. Also many birds including what we took to be a harrier.

Ann took a dip in the sea.

Yesterday, Thursday 3rd May we moved on to Sibari further across the "sole" and stayed at a campsite by the sea.

Here's a view of the beach at the campsite.

On the beach we witnessed a feeding frenzy as small fish attacked a shoal of even smallwer fishes. Today we are moving on again in the general direction of the port of Bari on the Adriatic.

Finally just catching up on your blog (it's been a busy time here - a new HER and moving offices at work, and all the usual busy-ness at home!). Thanks for posting all the blog entries and photos. Looks like you're both having a splendid time. Enjoy your travels!
