Monday 6th July 2026

I woke up at 1.45 as planned only to find that the Mexico v England match had been put back an hour due to an electrical storm over the Azteca Stadium in Mexico City. The match started at 3.00 local time and after an epic struggle England managed to win 2-3 and reach the quarter finals of the World Cup!

This morning we went the short distance into Atna village and bought some beer and goceries at the small co-op supermarket. We then travelled west and visited Sollia Kirke pictured here.

The church was built in the 18th Century when this area was ruled by Denmark. Prior to the building of the church the local families had to make the long journey to Ringbu to attend mass which was compulsory at least twice a year. The last straw came when a family froze to death on the journey and as a result the local people built the church with their own hands!

There is a marvellous view from the grave yard.

Unfortunately the church was locked so we couldn't go inside.

We travelled north into Rondane National Park and stopped at a viewpoint to take in this magnificent view. The mountains here are up to 2,100 metres (6,700 feet) tall.

We stopped for the day on a rough free camping area near the village of Folldal. Here's the view from our side door.

It's a nice spot with a bench, two waste bins and a fireplace.

There is a german registered hire van staying over just down the way.

This rather enigmatic menhir stands close by.

It was a beautiful evening.

Today we travelled 60 miles (97 kilometres). We are at: N62.12585 E9.99709
