Storm Doris came in this morning however we managed to get the hotel bus down to the airport and our plane arrived only a little late and was hastily unloaded, loaded and refueled.

Soon we were on our way. It was really bumpy for the first 5 minutes or so after take off but then smooth cruising high above the storm.

After about an hour and twenty minutes flying we were approaching Bergen Airport in western Norway.

We got the bus from the airport to the Hurtigruten terminal in central Bergen.

Before boarding the ship we attended a safety briefing in the terminal.

Here's our view as we boarded MS Polarlys which is to take us up the Norwegian coast, into the arctic, all the way to the Russian border and then eventually back to Bergen.

Having boarded the ship at about 16.00 we had plenty of time to look around it before it was due to leave Bergen at 22.30.

After it got dark the lights of Bergen were really pretty as we finally left the city and began our long sea journey.
