Wednesday 6th May 2026

It was fine weather today. We took on water before leaving Huntsmans Inn. Then travelled north west stopping at Meltham to take on diesel. Continued north to Hebden Bridge and then west towards Burnley.

We stopped for the day at Towneley Park on the outskirts of Burnley. It costs £2 to park here from 8.00 to 22.00 and is free from 22.00 till 8.00. We got out Ann's mobility scooter.

We set off into Towneley Park.

Interesting?

What a great idea. They have "Friendly Benches". You sit on one of these if you're up for a chat with someone else!

Towneley Hall is now a museum.

There are some nice gardens here.

There is a Dragon Trail for kids.

This is the War Memorial - very impressive!

There is a golf course here. Ann's on Tie 15.

View down the fairway from Tie 15.

We met this couple. Ann and the woman exchanged mobility scooter lore. We remarked to them that it was great that everyone round here says hello when they meet a stranger. Where we come from everyone just ignores each other! Back at the van I cooked some Colcannon for our tea. Ann has a very poorly back and finds it very difficult to move around. She took to her bed at about 17.30! Grim.

Today we travelled 40 miles (64 kilometres). We are at: N53.7719 W2.2263  Towneley Park             Park Entrance street view
