After so long it was really strange to be loading up the van and getting ready to set off!

We left Widecombe at about 11.00 and after taking on diesel at Trago Mills we travelled up the M5 to the Mendip Hills. The rev counter on the van has stopped working. We checked out a pub at Stanton Drew but it was ridiculously crowded and there was nowhere to park. We also tried to visit the standing stones at Stanton Drew but again all parking places taken! Eventually found somewhere to park temporarily and had a cup of tea.

After a couple of abortive efforts we found a brilliant place to stay overnight at Compton Bishop. There is a fantastic view over the Somerset Levels from here. The hill in the distance is Brent Knoll.

Ann insists on doing all the cooking and washing up in the van. I just sit around drinking beer.

We saw this distant hot air balloon drifting over The Levels.

The Nuclear Power Station at Hinkley Point is visible in the distance.

As it was getting dark this roe deer turned up fairly nearby.

There is bright moonlight now it's got dark. What a magic place!

We travelled 136 miles (219 kilometres) today. We are at N51.2913 W2.8727
